Potsdam Computer Center Offers Help for People Seeking Work

Monday March 30th, 2015
Many unemployed and under-employed people in St. Lawrence County have excellent skills and talents, yet they’ve been unable to secure appropriate jobs. The Potsdam Library’s Public Computer Center is now offering free help for people in this situation. A powerful and effective resume can make the difference between an applicant whose file is overlooked, and one who is asked to come for an interview. Adequate preparation for an interview can land the job for a qualified applicant who might otherwise be passed over when the job is filled. Classes are currently being scheduled to help job-seekers use effective techniques for their job searches, prepare effective resumes, and be prepared for interviews so that their talents and skills are recognized by the employer. In addition, individual appointments can be made to provide the opportunity to work one-on-one with an expert to facilitate a successful job search. Classes and individual sessions are being offered free of charge. The classes will be publicized by area news sources and will also be displayed on the Potsdam Library’s website. Individual sessions are arranged by calling the Compute Center at 265-7230. On April 11, from 10:30 – 11:30, a class will be held to help employers learn interviewing techniques that will help them identify the perfect candidate for an upcoming job opening. Constant turnover is expensive, and this class will help business owners, managers and human resource personnel avoid it by hiring the right person the first time. Registration is required for classes as well as individual sessions. Anyone interested in attending a class or private meeting should contact the Computer Center at 265-7230. The Library and its Computer Center are here to provide educational and personal growth opportunities for the community. It’s YOUR Library, and YOUR Computer Center, so don’t hesitate to USE the free services that can make a huge difference in your life.
