The Potsdam Fire Department’s Annual Halloween Ragamuffin Parade will be held Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. This festive, family-friendly event features a fun costume parade where kids and adults alike dress up in their favorite Halloween outfits, bringing out the creative and whimsical side of the community. Fire trucks from the department lead the way, providing a dramatic backdrop for this beloved family tradition.
The term “Ragamuffin” harks back to an old tradition where children would dress in makeshift costumes, adding to the charm of the event.
Participation is open to all. Those interested will meet at Ives Park and depart from there. The parade goes down Market Street, then right onto Elm Street, then Park Street, and returns to 42 Main Street for light refreshments and snacks. There will also be various activities for kids, candy giveaways, and fire truck rides at the station at the end. It’s a great opportunity for the community to gather, celebrate the spooky season, and enjoy a safe, fun environment for trick-or-treating and socializing.
