Hometown Cafe – Business of the Year 2019

Business of the year
John and Sue Fregoe with Rob Bicknell and Kellie Hitchman, Chamber Exec Board.

The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its selection for Business of the Year for 2019- the Hometown Café.

Located in the heart of the Village of Norwood, Town of Potsdam, the Hometown café is much more than a friendly and welcoming small-town diner where you are always treated like family. According to the two submitted nominations, owners Sue and John Fregoe work relentlessly to better the community. They were instrumental in fundraising for all-inclusive playground equipment for the Norwood Village Park and at the Norwood Beach.

In addition to creating opportunities for local youth, the Hometown Café plays an active role in community events such as the 4th of July parade, the children’s day in the park, Norwood Village Green Concert Series and the Norwood Christmas Festival. In a partnership with the local police department, they offer free ice cream to citizens who are “caught” doing good. Sue and John are also active members of the Norwood Kiwanis Club and volunteer for the Special Olympics.

One nominee stated “The Hometown, owners Sue and John Fregoe, along with their employees are the heart of the Village of Norwood. They provide great customer service and good food at a great price. They treat their staff like family. Their whole family works hard to help any way they can.”
