SUNY Potsdam Men’s Lacrosse and Lowe’s Will Assist Potsdam Chamber in Market Street Beautification
September 3, 2020
Tomorrow, September 4th, at 3:00 pm, the SUNY Potsdam Men’s Lacrosse team will meet staff and volunteers from the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce to revamp the tree beds along downtown Market Street. Volunteers will first remove all debris from the tree beds and sidewalks, including cigarette waste and weeds. They will then spread bags of mulch donated by Lowe’s of Potsdam. They are working with permission from Village Administrator, Greg Thompson.
“We saw a need for downtown cleanup. When SUNY Potsdam was able to provide volunteers and Lowe’s was eager to help, we took the initiative to get this effort going as soon as possible. Completing this in the first days of September will give us a few months before winter to enjoy the look, then we will try to coordinate a similar effort again in the spring.” says Executive Director, Kurstin Stowell.
The Chamber asks for the community’s help in keeping the cleanliness of downtown Potsdam. “I hope that this effort does not go unnoticed and that the community assists us in keeping Potsdam tidy. A simple act of making sure your trash makes it in the can or picking up a receipt that you see blowing in the wind can make a big difference in the end.” Stowell adds.
If you would like to assist the effort on Friday, September 4th at 3:00pm, please email info@potsdamchamber.com.
