Trout and Heron Independent School

Trout and Heron is an innovative K-5 microschool dedicated to hands-on, place-based education that nurtures curiosity, resilience, and a deep connection to the natural world. Founded by Dr. Ashley Campbell, an experienced educator with a Ph.D. in education, Trout and Heron fosters an interdisciplinary learning environment where children engage in meaningful, real-world experiences that integrate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), literacy, and outdoor exploration.

As a one-room, multi-age schoolhouse, we offer a close-knit learning environment where individualized instruction cultivates critical thinking, creativity, and a strong sense of responsibility toward the community and environment.
