The North Country Children’s Museum presents Kid Power Health on the first Saturday of the month from May to October. Programs will be held at 11am – 12pm and 2pm – 3pm in the museum’s new upstairs program room. These hands-on, health science programs are geared for children ages 12 and under and their families. The programs are drop-in and are included with the cost membership and admission thanks to support from the Healthcare Association of NY State, the Healthcare Educational and Research Fund, and the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation. The programs are in partnership with St. Lawrence Health. Monthly programs include:

May 4: Germs! Learn about microorganisms and how diseases spread. Then, through hands-on experiments, we’ll discover effective ways to stop germs from spreading in order to stay healthy.
June 1: How Tall Will You Be? Your height depends on your genes, along with your diet, habits, and lifestyle. Through fun activities, we’ll explore healthy habits that help you grow.  We’ll use three different methods to predict your adult height.
July 6: Sunscreen Experiment: Learn about the importance of protecting your skin from the sun’s UV rays with this simple and exciting sunscreen experiment!
August 3: Water and Fat-Soluble Experiments: Some vitamins dissolve quickly in water and can be excreted while others are stored by your body for a long time.  These science experiments show why eating fruits and veggies is so important!
September 7: First Aid Course for Kids! How should we handle cuts, scrapes, burns, bumps, and bruises? What is in a first aid kit and how do we use it? In this program, kids will learn basic first aid skills to use for a life time!

October 5: Tooth Fairy Science With activities, games, and a quiz, kids will learn healthy brushing and flossing habits to keep them smiling.

The Children’s Museum is located at 10 Raymond Street in downtown Potsdam. Discounted family memberships for $25 annually are available based on income. Visit the museum’s website for more info on discount membership eligibility:
