I’ve Got Time to Kill in Potsdam

Something active…

*Munter Trail – A two-mile trail walk along the Raquette River.  Park to the left of Stewart’s Shop on Maple St. and follow the path.  Overlooks along the river.

*Potsdam Community Dog Park: On Pine Street near Potsdam Humane Society.

*Sandstoner Park on Pine Street:

          ~public skating – October to March – skate rentals available, M-F 1:45 to 2:45; Sunday 12:30-2:00

          ~beach open mid-June to late August – picnic tables and lots of sand

*Play Areas

          ~Lawrence Avenue Elementary School

          ~Sandstoner Park on Pine St.

          ~Kay’s Play Space in Ives Park 

*Trillium Center for Yoga and Health – 32½ Elm St.  Offering yoga and much more (they      

  have the mats and all you need).  Check the online schedule trilliumyogacenter.com

*Body Shop Fitness and Salon – 47 St Hwy 345. Fitness machines, salon, classes, and more.  Schedule online.

Art and Culture…

*The Art Museum on the SUNY Potsdam campus – Tu-Th 1-7; F-S 1-5

*North Country Children’s Museum at 10 Raymond St, Potsdam, NY 13676  

*Potsdam Public Library at 2 Park St. – sit and read books, newspapers, and magazines; use public computers; M-Th 9-8; F-Sa9-5; Su 12-5

*Potsdam Public Museum at 2 Park St. – Tu-Sat 10-4

*SLC Arts Gallery at the Potsdam Town Hall on 18 Elm St. – changing exhibits.  Open 9-4 daily

A place for coffee…

*Jernabi Coffeehouse – 11 Maple St. Locally roasted coffee. M-Su 7-5:30

*Park Bros Coffee -½ Main Street. Locally roasted coffee. M-Su 6AM-9PM

*Potsdam Food Co-op at 24 Elm St.  Open 8-7 every day. Grab a Fair Trade coffee and something from the deli. Sit on the porch or at the counter by the window.  A cozy place to shop.

A place to sit outside…

*Ives Park – Right at the end of Market St.  A walkway, gazebo, canoe launch, and open space.

*Fall Island Park – Maple St. On the island between the dams.  Benches and a place to view the river. 

*Garner Park – Raymond St.  An upstream view of the river.  Picnic tables.
